Wynyard Hall Spa & Afternoon Tea | Review
Yesterday I was surprised with the most amazing birthday treat, my husband and best friend had arranged for me to have afternoon tea, spa treatments and spa access at Wynyard Hall!
Wynyard Hall is located in Tees Valley, surrounded by lush green landscape. Travelling down the winding drive leading to the Hall, I knew it was going to be something special, and I wasn’t disappointed!
We headed down to the Spa, and were shown into the conservatory for afternoon tea. Situated next to a tranquil lake, the views are fabulous.
The afternoon tea arrived and we could not wait to get stuck in to the three tiers of heavenly delights. Three tiers full of cakes and scones and a separate plate of finger sandwiches.ttom tier held plain and fruit scones, with clotted cream, jam and butter. The middle tier had white chocolate and raspberry macaroons and apricot battenburg. The top tier had cherry and chocolate liquor mouse and a strawberry tartlet. My favourite was the macaroon, the combination of the fresh raspberries and white chocolate was divine.
I was also surprised with a special birthday plate with truffles and petit fours!
Needless to say we couldn’t finish it all, but not to fear it didn’t go to waste. The lovely spa ladies popped the left overs into a box for us to take home.
We were then given a guided tour of the spa area. The spa boast a steam room, tropical shower, ice bucket, ice fountain, lavender sauna, thermal relaxation room and rasul mud chamber. There are also two outdoor jacuzzis and decking area over looking the lake. There is also a refreshment station equipt with lemon and orange water and fresh fruit.
We had booked to have a Power Breakfast facial and Rasul mud chamber treatment. The facial was the perfect indulgent birthday treat. A 30 minute facial that started with a relaxing foot treatment, that led onto an express facial centered around breakfast ingredients including honey, oats and fruit juices. A face, shoulder neck and scalp massage completed the treatment and I left the room feeling like i was walking on air!
We were then shown into the Rasul mud chamber for our second treatment. The room housed two rain forest style showers and a steam room. There was also an area with sink and towels and hooks to hang our robes.
The first part of the treatment consisted of a full body sea salt scrub. Once we had fully exfoliated and rinsed off the salt it was time for the mud! We smothered ourselves in thick cleansing mud from head to toe, there was also a hair mask and separate face mask to apply. We then took our seats in the steam room, the lights in the room dimmed and in came the steam! We were given ice water to keep ourselves hydrated and there was also a hand held shower to douse our feet if we started to feel too hot. Once the steam had stopped and the lights had come back on, it was time to get clean. The shower was cool and so refreshing after the heat of the steam. There was also complimentary shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. Our skin felt lovely and soft and we left the chamber feeling relaxed.
We spent the remainder of our time enjoying the features of the spa. The outdoor hot tub was a particular favourtie of mine. Sitting in the bubbly warm water overlooking the lake was wonderful.
I thoroughly enjoyed my birthday treat, it was wonderful to have a proper escape and time to relax, It gave me a real mental health boost, something I think every Mum needs every now and again!
