Livingroom Makeover | Pip Milburn

I’ve wanted to refresh my living room for quite some time now. The old floral wallpaper and dark red colour scheme had definitely seen better days. I wanted something more modern, lighter and fresher.

As we were on a budget we decided to remove the red floral wallpaper and pain it the same colour as the other walls. We still had paint left over in the loft which meant we only had to buy one extra small tin of paint.

The walls were originally painted green so two coats of white paint were needed before applying the final colour. The paint colour is by Dulux, it’s a flat matte and is called Labrador Sands 5.

Instantly the room looked lighter! I also took down the heavy red curtains and replaced them with a beige pair at the bay window and white voile at the French doors.

A few weeks earlier I had spotted a large plain cream area rug in JTF for £20 which fitted in perfectly.

My final change was to sell the two seater settee that was in front of the bay window and replace it with an armchair. The large settee was too big for the bay and made the room look smaller than it was.

The chair was an absolute steal at £30 from FaceBook Market place.

To tie in the blue chair with the rest of the room I bought a selection of navy cushions from M&S and Boundary Mills

I also bought a new navy and beige vase from Wilkinsons for £8.

See how I transformed the living room in the video below.
